11 червня цього року Верховна Рада України прийняла ініційований Кабінетом Міністрів проект закону №3121 «Про внесення змін до статті 301 Кримінального кодексу України (щодо відповідальності за зберігання творів, зображень або предметів порнографічного характеру)», який викликав широкий суспільний резонанс.
Положення закону прокоментував голова громадської організації «Правозахисна організація «Спільна Мета» Руслан Бортнік.

Official Statistics Evidences About Absence Of Real Struggle |

On May, 7 this year NGO «Common Goal» took part in the work of the round table of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (European Council) devoted to the problem of racism, xenophobia and intolerance in Ukraine.
At the round table the representative of «Common Goal» Maria Semykoz expressed the deep concern of the public organization about growing level of xenophobia and racism in Ukraine during the recent years, increasing number of crimes on racial grounds and absence of the real fight from the side of law enforcement authorities against this disgraceful phenomenon.
The information of international, as well as Ukrainian NGOs evidences the growing wave of hatred crimes on the ethnic grounds since 2006. In particular, according to the monitoring of the Congress of National Communities of Ukraine 14 attacks on racial ground and 2 murders were registered in 2006, in 2007 there were 87 attacks and 6 murders, in 2008 – 83 attacks and 4 murders. |

За ініціативою громадської організації "Правозахисна організація "Спільна Мета" й за зверненням народного депутата України, Президент України Віктор Ющенко дав доручення Голові Житомирської обласної державної адміністрації розібратися в конфліктій ситуації та вжити належних заходів реагування. За інформацією Житомирської ОДА на 26 березня роботу підприємтсва зупинено, а питання вивчається спеціально створеною робочою групою на чолі з заступником Голови Житомирської ОДА Дейсаном М.М. |

Common Goal begins gathering and preparation of information |

The European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (body of the Council of Europe), composed of independent members, entrusted with the task of combating racism and racial discrimination, from the perspective of protection and promotion of human rights invited representatives of Human Rights organization “Common Goal” to take part in the national round table on 7-th May 2009.
ECRI following the publication of its country monitoring reports, in order to encourage reflection in the relevant governmental and non-governmental circles, ECRI regularly organises national round tables in the member States of the Council of Europe, bringing together all the relevant actors, including government officials, representatives of national human rights institutions, representatives of local and regional authorities, parliamentarians, victims of discrimination, academics, NGOs etc. The objective is to develop together ideas as to how solve the problems of racism in the country and to ensure the implementation of ECRI's specific recommendations.
A prominent circle of experts will introduce the following themes: ECRI’s report on Ukraine; responding to racially motivated violence; challenges ahead for the development of comprehensive anti-discrimination legislation in Ukraine; and racism, xenophobia, antisemitism and intolerance in public discourse and in the public sphere.
